International Relations Months

Lions Clubs International recognizes October as international relations month.

  • On the second Thursday of October, Lions celebrate World Sight Day.
  • On October 24, Lions celebrate United Nations Day. This commemorates the day in 1945 when the United Nations Charter came into effect.
  • An international night is another excellent international relations project. Clubs or districts can organize an international night for either their members or the general public. Usually, international nights feature costumes, decorations (including flags and travel posters), entertainment, food and music which represents many countries. Guests of honor can include ambassadors, consuls, visiting exchangees (both students and adults), and recently settled emigrants. Media representatives can be invited to witness this event.
